Okay, I confess to being about double the age (at least) of the average Facebook client, but I am finding this social networking thing a bunch of fun. We joined in response to our daughters’ suggestions. Kristin says it’s easier to get her dad’s photos on her phone than when he emails them, and Karen tells me that I need to be where the readers of my books are.

We have had a lot of fun sharing pictures and news with family members and friends. A few of my students added me, and I assured them that I’m not “looking over their shoulders.” Unfortunately, I also found a new “fun” activity that tends to be fairly addicting, at least to us SciFi fans: Stargate Trivia! And no, I’m not cheating by doing research on GateWorld.

Okay, so I’m an aficionado. I actually felt compelled to keep answering questions correctly, because I didn’t want some of the other labels on my page….

It’s not all fun and games…I’m also checking out the psychology groups. There is a Psi Chi group, and Evolutionary Psychology group, and a group reading Loneliness by John Cacioppo and William Patrick. I’m assigning Loneliness to my intro students this Fall as enrichment reading, and we’ll all be joining the group. John has graciously offered to chat with students later in the Fall, which will be very exciting.

Well, it’s back to testbank writing for me, for my second edition of Discovering Biological Psychology, so no Facebook for awhile. But if you’re on Facebook, check out the Science of Loneliness group!

Be careful out there, and stay off certain fan groups. For the sake of our safety and happiness.
