Roger and Karen near Laguna Lake today

Roger and Karen near Laguna Lake today... yes, it is still warm in California!

Here are my readings for today!:

“SUZANNE Corkin is a professor of behavioural neuroscience at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology who worked with the famous amnesic patient H.M. for more than 45 years. I interviewed her at the annual meeting of the Society for Neuroscience in San Diego last month, for this article I wrote for The Dana Foundation. We talked about her work with H.M., and about the project to examine his brain now that he has died, which was partly funded by Dana.  “

Before dipping your hand into that bowl of M&Ms at the holiday party, think about what you’re about to do. A lot. A new study finds that people who imagine themselves consuming many pieces of candy eat less of the real thing when given the chance. The finding, say experts, could lead to the development of better weight-loss strategies.”

“At the 2008 Beijing Olympics, the star American gymnast Alicia Sacramone was expected to grab gold. But just as she approached the balance beam, an official pulled her aside. Watching at home on TV, Sian Beilock, an associate professor of psychology at the University of Chicago, cringed. An expert on “choking”—or falling apart under pressure—Beilock knew that allowing an athlete even a second to think about what she’s about to do can be disastrous.”

“Youth is wasted on the young, but not so for face memory. In an unexpected discovery, people remember unfamiliar faces best between ages 30 and 34, scientists report in an upcoming issue of Cognition.”

The article you found on remembering faces was quite interesting. I still recognize my family members as who they are, even if a lot has changed over the years (But we changed for the better if that is the case).

I know you guys like the lines “work is good for you” and “I don’t do boring things” but I don’t even say them anymore. I was just a little pup when I said them. Now I say something different, and just like everyone else, I talk and type like a pro. Just because I said something once when I was little does not make it a memorable quote. I don’t mean to offend anyone, but I am telling the truth about myself. Heck, I always tell the truth about myself (I never lie) because I know more about myself then everyone else does (I am myself after all).

Speaking of “Imagine eating more to lose weight”, I could use some exercise myself. I use the stairmaster once in a while, so that’s good. But I wish you guys would clean our garage more often so that I can lift weights again. I do enjoy weightlifting still, and I wish I would go out competing in powerlifting meets someday.

On the other hand, it’s nice to see my sisters come home to visit during the Holidays again.
