here is what I am reading today:
” Much of medicine is based on what is considered the strongest possible evidence: The placebo-controlled trial. A paper published in the October 19 issue of Annals of Internal Medicine — entitled “What’s In Placebos: Who Knows?” calls into question this foundation upon which much of medicine rests, by showing that there is no standard behind the standard — no standard for the placebo.”
“We believe what we tell ourselves, whether it’s true or not. And when we talk negatively about our bodies, we start to feel negatively about them. That creates problems with our motivation to do the things necessary to take care of them”
“…However, an Alzheimer’s charity said despite the findings, published in the journal Neurology, it was “too early” to think about taking supplements. It called for more research into the protective power of vitamins such as B12 – found in meat, fish and eggs.”

I’m hoping to achieve my goals as well, by building muscle (I hope to get back to weightlifting in the future) and finding good anti-aging products. One of my goals in life is to become physically immortal, live forever and stay young forever. And one of the first steps to take is to eat goji berries, which are nutritional, healthful and are a powerful antioxidant. I have enjoyed them very much.

What is a standard placebo?
Is there a reason why every researcher/experimentation uses the SAME placebo nationwide? There has to be some sort of safe, edible product that can be placed in a placebo and won’t affect the outcome of any studies… or is that all just wishful thinking? :]
I can’t believe that the ingredients in placebos are more often left out of the results than actually PUT IN! It’s outrageous! Also, after reading this article I do think that researchers have purposely gone ahead and placed ingredients in their placebo that would benefit their beliefs and alter the results of the experiment in a way that helps their cause. Everybody wants to be better than everyone else, even if it means cheating.
It would have never crossed my mind to consider what is in a placebo pill, let alone research how many experiments have documented thier consistencies. This article left me very interested…this is a huge eye-opener!
