fabulous bread pudding

why is it that I always want what I can't have when I am on a diet?

Here is what I am reading today:

“According to the numbers, the number of daily meals and snacks in 1977 were 3.8 but rose to 4.8 in 2006. However, the top 10 percent of surveys showed that the number of meals and snacks were as high as seven per day. It appears that in the last few years, portion size seems to be stabilizing, however the total number of calories consumed is increasing. A main reason behind this is the daily consumption of more than 220 more calories consumed daily from soft drinks than in years past.”

“The Federation of European Neuroscience Societies (FENS), the Japan Neuroscience Society (JNS) and the Society for Neuroscience (SfN) strongly advocate the responsible use of animals in biological and biomedical research. Animal models are vital and irreplaceable for scientific progress and in combating the devastation of human neurological and psychiatric diseases, which affect more than 1 billion people worldwide, and for improving veterinary health. Animal models must be used appropriately and within humane guidelines, carrying out research that maximizes scientific advancement with the least amount of animal suffering. As scientists pursue these advances, we strive to replace and reduce the number of animals wherever scientifically justifiable, and continuously refine experimental procedures to improve animal welfare.”

“In the study, use of fluoxetine in early pregnancy was associated with about a 2-fold increased risk for isolated ventricular septal defects, whereas paroxetine was associated with more than a 4-fold increased risk for right ventricular outflow tract defects.”

With the birth of the world wide web in the early 90’s and the advancement of the search engine-centric manner in which many of us go about our daily lives, it only makes sense that education’s migration towards online education would follow suit. Years ago, the idea that attending online classes would become a viable and respected option to people seeking to earn college degrees would have been laughed at. But like many rapidly advancing elements in our lives, the inherent value of this option, “convenience” has been identified. The tech-savvy word has embraced the concept, fortified its infrastructure and begun putting serious behind bringing real and valued education online. For the most part, on-line education centers on bachelors and master’s degree attainment. A minor portion, but no less surprising, is doctoral programs. Yes, serious scholars are achieving PhD. degrees online. In part or in whole. Today.”
