One of the gems of the Internet for those of us who teach biological psychology has always been Eric Chudler’s Neuroscience for Kids.  It’s not just for kids at all–Eric’s crystal clear definitions, descriptions, and examples are useful for students of all ages. Suggested activities, like building neuron models, are not only engaging, but help everyone remember the staggering amount of information we cover in this class.

Now Eric has made our job that much easier and more fun–he has a new site, Neuro4Kids.com, which offers a variety of items based on the Neuroscience for Kids material. I’m kind of partial to the Stroop Effect coffee mug–the large one, of course.

Coming soon to the site are two new books by Eric–one a book of brain Haikus (gotta see that)–and the other is a cookbook for good brain food that is fast and easy to prepare (great for students and faculty alike). I’m guessing that the recipes include fish, but not high fructose corn syrup! There are also models of cat and rabbit brains. Since so many of us use sheep brains for lab, hopefully Eric could include those soon, too. And you just can’t have enough human brains, can you? Although I think I’ll pass on the Jello version that Eric links on Neuroscience for Kids….This might be good for a pre-Halloween lecture, though. The bottom line? Neuroscience is FUN.
