Discovering Behavioral Neuroscience Fifth Edition!

I’m very excited to announce that my fifth edition is officially in print (and available electronically). In fact, I received a notification that my author’s copies from Cengage will be arriving via UPS tomorrow. There’s nothing quite like holding your book for the first time!

I hope you like the cover. The title of the image is “Neuroscience is the heart.” It was submitted to the NeuroArt Image Contest by Valentina Cerrato of the University of Turin and the Neuroscience Institute Cavalieri Ottolenghi. Dr. Cerrato used immunofluorescence and confocal microscopy to produce her image of the mouse cerebellum at postnatal day 7.

This edition also features a number of drawings by my daughter, Karla, who has autism spectrum disorder. Not only does Karla really enjoy drawing for my books, but her work is a lifesaver when we cannot obtain a particular photo.

Karla’s drawing of a domesticated fox.

Working on this edition over the past year was pretty intense! I can’t remember another edition that required as many important updates. Data from large image and genetics consortia are really changing the conclusions that we can make. I’ve compiled a detailed list of changes that I’d be happy to share via email.

If you happen to take a look at this new edition and have any questions or feedback, please let me know!
