Our Wonderful Ancillaries!

We’ve worked hard on our ancillary materials. I am very proud of the exceptional team effort in developing and producing a positive and exciting edition of Discovering Biological Psychology! If you want to see a preview of the ancillaries, contact your H-M sales rep or Erin Lane at Houghton Mifflin.

Instructor's Resource Manual (IRM):

Our Instructor's Resource Manual has received every attention to detail that YOU would expect! Having written instructor's manuals before, I knew the level of quality and attention to detail that would be required, and I wasn't disappointed. I was very pleased to have Dave Pittman of Wofford jump on board for this part of the project. Dave's creative ideas for lecture enrichment, classroom demonstrations, and additional resources will make teaching this material fun and easy.

I am very grateful to Dave and his wife Sharyn (for sparing Dave for this project). Dave's attention to the details and his personal contributions makes for a wonderful instructor's manual. The long hours and days were certainly worth it!

Dave also has an interesting and fun web site that clearly demonstrates his love for the subject of Biological Psychology!

Test Bank:

Special Thanks to Gayle Brosnan-Watters of Slippery Rock University for all her marvelous help in working with me to produce a great test bank! Gayle produced many of the "conceptual" and "applied" questions for the test bank. Thank you Gayle!

 Gayle Brosnan-Watters
I confess to being particularly fussy about test banks—most seem quite dreadful—so I wrote 1600 multiple choice items for the test bank myself. Gayle did yeoman’s work helping me with this “fun” task.

I have also piloted many of the questions in my own classes, and empirical item results are provided for your review.

I never lose track of good people, Gayle and I  just were published in the Journal of Undergraduate Neuroscience Education a great little article on "Information Competency" with plenty of examples that you may wish to use in your classroom!

PowerPoint® Presentations

As part of our package for instructors, you will receive modifiable PowerPoints®. In addition, the art program used in the text is available to you in electronic form.  Many thanks to Charlotte Miller and John Woolsey for their outstanding job on this art program.

Houghton Mifflin went to a lot of trouble to produce an art program that would work electronically--We know you don't like pixelated images and miniscule labels!

This art program was designed from the ground up for electronic use.
