My friend and colleague John Cacioppo was in Shanghai to speak recently at the  First International Society for Social Neuroscience.  Here is a part of what was featured:

The symposium served as a bridge to advance the researches of Social Neuroscience in China through intensive and close collaborations between Chinese and Western & Eastern scientists. The themes of the symposium focused on Emotion, Decision-making, Reward-learning and all the interdisciplinary aspects related to social neuroscience. The event was sponsored and organized by National Key Laboratory of Cognitive Neuroscience and Learning and Society for Social Neuroscience, and co-organized with Shanghai University of Sport.

Invited speakers included (In alphabetical order by last name): John Cacioppo & Jean Decety (University of Chicago, USA); Joan Chiao (Northwestern University, USA); Shihui Han (Peking University, China); Bin Hu (University of Lanzhou, China); Kang Lee (University of Toronto, Canada); Tatia Lee (University of Hong Kong,China); Hong Li, (Southwest University, China); Shu Li (Institute of Psychology, CAS, China); Yuejia Luo (Beijing Normal University, China); Mario Mendez (UCLA, USA); Stephanie Ortigue (Syracuse University, USA); Steve Phelps (University of Florida, USA); Norihiro Sadato (National Institute for Physiological Science, Japan); Eric Vanman (University of Queensland, Australia); Patrick Vuilleumier (University of Geneva, Switzerland); Qingguo Ma (Zhejiang University, China); Yiwen Wang (Tianjin Normal University, China); Nai‐Shin Yen (National Chengchi University, China); Xiaolin Zhou (Peking University, China); Xinyue Zhou (Sun Yat-Sen University, China).”

I am sure that this conference will only become more central to the understanding of the field. Congratulations to all!

PS. Not everyone can attend an international conference, but the rewards and contacts anyone can make are more than worth the time and expense!
